About
Yun is drawn to the unpredictability and physicality of wood-firing. Based in Singapore, her practice sits between discipline and surrender: throwing or hand-building forms that are deliberately restrained, then handing them over to the kiln, where ash, flame, and time take over.
Her interest in ceramics grew out of a need to work with her hands after years in media, trading deadlines and screens for slower, more tactile processes. She began pottery just before Covid, nearly walked away from it, then found her footing in wood-firing–and didn’t look back.
Yun has exhibited in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and London, and she is trying to build a community of fire-crazy potters here. (Drop her an email if you want to woodfire in Ipoh, Malaysia! All are welcome.) When she’s not wedged in clay or loading a kiln, she’s usually thinking about the next firing, and how much she can leave up to chance.
